Tahoma works very hard to teach it’s students the importance of sustainability. They press this matter during school lunches and in specific courses that include curriculum structured around sustainability. Tahoma has been presented many Green School awards every year since 2012.

Glacier Park is a K-5 school serving roughly 950 students. School is in session from 9:10 am to 3:40 pm Monday through Thursday with early release on Friday’s at 2:10 pm. Glacier Park offers a number of “Zero Hour” classes before and after school to further the opportunity for students growth.
Principal Chris Thomas came to Glacier Park in 2010. Prior to this, he spent 15 years in the Bellevue School District as a teacher and administrator. Chris grew up in the Tahoma School District before continuing on to Boise State University to earn a B.A. in Communication and then to City University for his Masters in Education and Administrative Credentials.

Lake Wilderness serves more than 1,000 children grades K-5 with over 60 teachers and a great Reading Assistance Program. The school day commences at 9:10 am and releases students at 3:40 pm Monday through Friday. This elementary school offers “Zero Hour” classes before and after school to further the opportunity for students growth. Lake Wilderness is currently undergoing $42.8 million construction project slated for completion in August 2017.

Principal Fritz Gere was born and raised in Snoqualmie Valley and earned a B.A. in Elementary Education, from Northwest University, as well as a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction and Administrative Credentials from City University.
In my seventeen years in education I have served six years as an elementary principal in the White River School District, two years as the Dean of Students at Glacier Park Elementary School and eight years as a primary and intermediate teacher at Rock Creek Elementary. Additionally, I have taught undergraduate and graduate level courses in education local universities. Jerry has worked in education for over 30 years, having been a teacher,reading intervention specialist, Educational Assistant, Dean of Students, Instructional Coach and currently a proud Principal.

Cedar River is currently under construction. School days start at 8:30 am and run until 3:00 pm Monday through Thursday with early release on Friday’s at 1:30 pm. You may notice that Tahoma School District has not only a middle school, but a junior high as well. They do this to keep the class sizes smaller. Tahoma Junior High School serves students in 8th & 9th grade, preparing them for high school and beyond by challenging creativity, engaging in community service, and encouraging creativity. The morning bell rings at 7:40 am and dismissal is 2:15 pm Monday through Thursday. Fridays are early release, sending students home at 12:45.

Tahoma High School runs on a unique block schedule. Students classes are divided into Blue and Gold days, so they attend 3 classes a day rather than the usual 6 classes. This allows for more time focused on each topic and deeper learning. 30 minutes of each day is dedicated to academic preparation, and early release on Fridays so students have an 1.5 hours designated for students who need extra help with curriculum.
